JAMB Employee Faces Jail Time for Laptop Theft

An employee of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is facing jail time for stealing an HP laptop belonging to the Board.

The incident occurred at the Board’s FCT Zonal Office in Abuja, and the culprit, Emmanuel Odey, who worked as a cleaner, admitted to the crime in court.

Odey stated that he stole the laptop, worth N350,000, to pay his expired house rent.

He pleaded for leniency, expressing remorse and blaming the devil for his actions.

After cross-examination, the Senior Magistrate sentenced Odey to six months imprisonment or a fine of five thousand naira.

The Board had previously set up an investigating team that led to the arrest of the defendant and the recovery of the stolen laptop from his sister’s residence.
