According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now the leading candidate to buy Manchester United, valuing the club higher than Sheikh Jassim’s offer of £5 billion.
Ratcliffe’s company, Ineos, has made an offer that would see the Red Devils priced at more than £5 billion, surpassing Sheikh Jassim’s bid.
Ratcliffe is said to be interested in purchasing either 69% of United or slightly more than 50%, provided the Glazers wish to stay.
While Sheikh Jassim wants 100% of the club and has expressed his willingness to invest in the team, facilities, and local community, Ratcliffe is now ahead of him in the race to acquire the Red Devils.
The Glazers could, however, reject both men and consider minority investment from firms such as Elliott Management, Ares Management, and The Carlyle Group.
The Manchester United Supporters Trust has called for the end of the takeover impasse, expressing concern over the prolonged uncertainty and the impact on the club’s management and investment projects.
The Glazers have yet to make a decision, and the future ownership of Manchester United remains unclear.
