Deividas Skebas, a Lithuanian national accused of murdering nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte in Boston, Lincolnshire, has been declared unfit to stand trial by a judge.
Instead, a trial of the facts has been scheduled for July 10, where the prosecution will present the case to a jury without the defendant’s participation.
Lilia was found with a stab wound in Fountain Lane and later died from a wound to her chest.
Skebas was not present at the hearing. Lilia’s mother, Lina, plans to create a statue of her daughter as a tribute.
In a statement, Lina described Lilia as a normal child who loved to dance, travel, and try new things.
She added that the family would keep their memories of Lilia private.
