Juventus have reportedly instructed eight first-team players, including Federico Chiesa and Wojciech Szczesny, to leave the club as new head coach Thiago Motta initiates a significant squad overhaul.
After struggling both on and off the pitch in recent seasons and failing to win the Serie A title for the past four years, Juventus is looking to raise funds for new recruits.
Chiesa is one of the high-profile players Juventus is keen to sell during the current transfer window.
Long-term goalkeeper Szczesny, ex-Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie, and former Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo are also on the list.
Additionally, Juventus seeks permanent departures for Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Filip Kostic, and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia.
In a press conference following a 2-2 pre-season friendly against Brest, Thiago Motta confirmed the decision. “They are out of the project and they have to find new clubs,” said Motta. “We are convinced this is the best decision possible.”
While clearing out existing players, the club has also been active in the transfer market recently signing Khephren Thuram from Lille and Juan Cabal from Verona already and they are reportedly interested in former Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo.
