The 2025 BET Awards will proceed as scheduled, even as protests continue in Los Angeles over immigration raids.

According to Music-News.com, the event will be hosted by Kevin Hart at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, just blocks away from the ongoing demonstrations against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

“BET remains committed to the safety of our guests and staff. We are working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department and monitoring the situation,” a BET spokesperson said.

The BET Awards will be broadcast live on Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

On Sunday, protestors filled the streets to speak out against the ICE raids reportedly ordered by former President Donald Trump. Traffic was halted on the 101 Freeway as the demonstrations grew in size.

The 2025 BET Awards will honour Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg with the Ultimate Icon Award.

Leading this year’s nominations are Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, and Drake. Performances are scheduled from popular artists like GloRilla, Lil Wayne, Playboi Carti, and Teyana Taylor.

Presenters include Busta Rhymes, Ciara, Erika Pinkett, Kerry Washington, Quinta Brunson, and Stevie Wonder.

The BET Awards continue to celebrate achievements in Black culture, recognizing excellence in music, film, and the arts.
