A human rights lawyer, Deji Ajare, has called on the Kogi House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Usman Ododo. Ajare alleges that Ododo obstructed justice by using his motorcade to protect his political benefactor, Yahaya Bello, from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bello is being charged with laundering the sum of N80.2 billion during his two terms as Kogi governor.

Allegations of Misconduct and Abuse of Office

Ajare accuses Governor Ododo of misconduct and abuse of office, claiming that his actions constitute a violation of the Nigerian Constitution. In a letter to the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ajare calls for a thorough investigation into the allegations and emphasizes the importance of holding Ododo accountable if the claims are found to be true.

Urgent Attention Needed

Ajare urges the Speaker to give urgent attention to the issue and expresses confidence in the commitment of the Kogi State House of Assembly to uphold the constitution and the laws of the land for the betterment of the state and its people. The fate of Governor Ododo now rests in the hands of the lawmakers as they consider whether to proceed with impeachment proceedings.
