The Benue State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has announced the murder of its Chairman, Nathaniel Ochoche, in an attack by armed herdsmen.

The attack occurred in Ankpali village in Edikwu District of Apa Local Government Area of Benue state and resulted in the death of four mourners.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Orbunde, issued a statement in Makurdi expressing shock and sorrow over the tragic incident.

According to the statement, Mr. Ochoche was a consummate party man and the Edikwu Ward 2 Chairman of the party in Apa.

He was described as someone who worked tirelessly for the growth of his community, constituency, and country both in words and works.

The party emphasized that Mr. Ochoche’s legacy of contribution, particularly in the just-concluded 2023 general elections, would always have a special place of pride, honor, and admiration in the annals of history.

The LP condemned the attack and called on the Federal and state governments, as well as all relevant authorities and stakeholders, to take immediate action to protect the lives and properties of the people and halt the unwarranted killings by suspected criminal Fulani herdsmen.

The party noted that these attacks were one too many and urged the relevant authorities to allow people to return to their farms this farming season.

The LP expressed its deepest condolences to the wife, children, and entire family members of the deceased over this terrible and unfortunate incident.
