Veteran Yoruba actor Adeola Shoremi, widely recognized as Lanko, has shared how his father turned his back on him for choosing acting as a career — www.naijnaira.com reports.
He disclosed that the family rift lasted eight years, as his father never accepted his decision to become an entertainer.
In an interview reported by Punch, the actor revealed that the turning point came when his father fell ill and was admitted to the General Hospital in Ikeja.
Lanko recalled receiving a call from his father’s wife while he was hosting an event in Ketu, urging him to rush to the hospital.
“When I arrived at the emergency ward, people started cheering loudly, and the doctor came out to see what was happening,” he said.
According to him, the doctor recognized him instantly and prioritized his father’s treatment after learning about their relationship.
The actor said his father wept when he later visited, admitting he never thought the son he rejected would come to his rescue.
“That day, he told me he realized I was destined for greatness, and it changed everything,” Lanko explained.
