Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a potential move for 28-year-old Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, whom they have tried to sign twice in the past.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti claims that Jurgen Klopp has drawn up a shortlist of six midfield targets this month, including Zielinski and former Newcastle man Mikel Merino.

Liverpool were close to signing the Poland international in 2016, but have now made contact again with Napoli for a possible deal.

Zielinski has been in fine form for Napoli this season and is part of their title push at the top of Serie A.

With his contract set to expire in June 2024, West Ham made an inquiry over the summer – but it was made clear they would need to pay £70m for him.

As such, it appears unlikely he will leave this month due to his integral role at Napoli.

But should Liverpool be able to get a move away, they would be signing an experienced player with 89 caps for Poland and 304 appearances for Napoli.
