Reports suggest that former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is set to travel to London for further talks with Chelsea regarding the managerial role.
The club has been in contact with Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann after sacking Graham Potter last weekend.
While Nagelsmann was initially a leading candidate, Enrique seems to have impressed Chelsea’s chiefs with his clear vision for the team and his plan to establish a high-intensity system at Stamford Bridge.
Enrique’s former Barcelona teammate and agent, Ivan De La Pena, will be accompanying him to London.
Chelsea has previously considered Enrique, but his hefty wage demands and lack of English proficiency deterred them.
However, Enrique has been working on improving his English and is now a strong candidate for the job.
If appointed, Enrique would be tasked with improving Chelsea’s attack, which has only scored 29 goals in 29 league games this season.
