Nearly ending in tragedy, a shocking wedding proposal incident occurred when a woman swallowed her boyfriend’s engagement ring hidden in her food.
The unsuspecting Ms Jessica Hawayu and her family had gathered for a family party at her home in Gongoni, Tana River County on Sunday.
A plan was made between Jessica’s mother and her boyfriend Johannah Charo to bury the engagement ring in a plate of pilau that Jessica was making as it was a favorite of both her father and boyfriend.
Chaos ensued when, while eating the dish, Jessica began to choke and all efforts went into rescuing her as she left the table and ran towards her father who hit her on the back three times only for the ring to be thrown up with vomit.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a check-up after which she agreed to marry Charo with his insistence on whether dead or alive.
Though things didn’t go as planned, Jessica doesn’t regret what happened because it created an unforgettable memory.
