Erik ten Hag has urged Marcus Rashford to extend his stay with Manchester United as they look to reach their goal of becoming the best team in the world.
The Red Devils forward, whose current contract runs until 2024, is attracting interest from French club Paris Saint-Germain.
With nine goals in his last nine matches, Rashford is in top form and United are in talks with the England international over a new deal.
However, it’s thought that Man Utd could have to break their ‘Ronaldo Rule’ salary cap of £200,000 a week to accommodate Rashford’s demands.
Ten Hag expressed his belief that Man Utd offer the perfect environment for Rashford’s development and, speaking on Tuesday at a press conference before United’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, said:
“In this team he is playing his best football… This team can help him be in the right position and to score goals, which he is good at.”
Discussing PSG‘s interest in Rashford as a compliment both to the player and the club, Ten Hag said: “I would say this is the best place to be because we want to construct the best team first in England Europe then in the world”.
Alex Crook of talkSPORT revealed that while there are no issues between United and Rashford on wanting him to remain at Old Trafford long term, it’s just “the financial aspect of this new contract that needs to be ironed out.”
