Manchester United in Talks to Sign Left-Back from Lecce for €40m

Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu.

Dorgu has impressed in Serie A and has drawn interest from clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, United are determined to secure his signature, with reports indicating that discussions are underway for a January transfer.

While no formal bid has been made yet, Dorgu is keen on moving to Old Trafford, and Lecce is reportedly asking for around €40m (£33.8m) for the player.

Dorgu began his career at FC Nordsjaelland and has earned four senior caps for Denmark.

He is seen as a more affordable alternative to other left-back targets like Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and Nuno Mendes of Paris Saint-Germain.

United’s left-back position has been a problem area, with Luke Shaw sidelined for most of 2024 due to injuries, and Tyrell Malacia linked with a move away.

This potential signing would be United’s first of a quiet January transfer window, as they focus on strengthening their squad after a difficult run of results that sees them sitting 13th in the Premier League.
