Jude “MI” Abaga has explained why he didn’t settle down until he turned 41, saying it came down to emotional readiness—not a lack of opportunity – www.naijnaira.com reports.
Speaking with Jay On Air, the veteran rapper said that although he had been in relationships before, none of them aligned with where he was mentally and emotionally.
According to the interview, MI said he often questioned himself in his late 30s, especially when he noticed friends who had married young were already raising teenagers or sending kids to college.
He described the weight of those comparisons, saying, “I felt a little bad about being unmarried when I was 37 because my friend who got married at 25, 26 now has 14-year-old kids.”
MI mentioned that some of his peers who hadn’t married still had children early, including his brother Jesse, who already has a 21-year-old child.
Despite those moments of doubt, he said meeting his wife changed everything, calling her an “amazing woman” and a “divine blessing.”
“I got the opportunity to meet this amazing woman who I’m married to now, and I really see some providence in that,” he said.
He pointed out that marriage isn’t about age but being emotionally in the right place to make that kind of commitment.
“At the end of the day, when you’re not ready, you’re not ready,” he said, adding that everyone has their own timeline and it’s okay to follow a different pace.
MI explained that he had just ended a previous relationship at 39 when he met Eniola, and everything shifted from that moment on.
She was present at his 40th birthday, and he recalled feeling sure he wanted to marry her, which he eventually did a year later.
Their wedding took place in September 2022, months after he proposed to her.
He met her in 2020 and said he was immediately sure she was the one he had been waiting for.
