MTN Nigeria has recently announced changes to their recharge and data bundle codes.
The new recharge activation code is now *311*recharge pin# instead of the previous *555*recharge pin#.
Similarly, the data bundle code has been changed from *131# to *312#.
MTN has encouraged their customers to start using the new codes for their convenience.
The reason for the change has not been disclosed.
MTN is a telecommunications company with its headquarters in Johannesburg and operates in many African and Asian countries.
With 280 million subscribers as of December 2020, it is the 8th largest mobile network operator in the world and the largest in Africa.
Nigeria alone accounts for one-third of the company’s revenue, with MTN holding about 35% market share in the country.
