MTN Nigeria has officially begun its 2025 edition of the 21 Days of Y’ello Care volunteer program with a series of community-based digital training sessions across Lagos.
According to MTN Nigeria, the 2025 campaign, themed “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through Digital Tools,” will run from June 1 to June 21. The program aims to support underserved communities struggling with limited access to digital resources.
The kickoff event featured MTN staff volunteers hosting hands-on sessions on digital marketing, personal branding, and employability skills. These sessions were designed to equip participants—especially youth—with tools to thrive in a digital economy.
Boosting MTN’s Digital Inclusion in Underserved Areas
As part of the Group-wide effort, MTN Nigeria is expanding its community outreach by launching several local projects under the Y’ello Care umbrella. These include:
- Equipping schools and youth centers with smart devices
- Hosting digital literacy workshops
- Deploying community Wi-Fi in remote areas
- Supporting digital entrepreneurs with tools and training
- Launching Y’ello Pods—mobile hubs for e-learning and financial inclusion
Each initiative is shaped to bridge the digital gap and bring real-time access to tools that can improve both learning and livelihoods.
“We Care About the Communities We Serve” – MTN CEO
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Lagos, Karl Toriola, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, emphasized the importance of the program.
“Y’ello Care matters to us because we’re a digital company and we’re operating in an environment where there are so many needs. At MTN Nigeria, we care, and we want to show our direct connection and responsibility to the communities we operate in.”
This year marks the 18th edition of the 21 Days of Y’ello Care initiative. The program continues to strengthen MTN’s position as a socially responsible company through employee-driven volunteering efforts.
Impact Beyond Lagos
In 2024, MTN Nigeria volunteers rebuilt a school block at Iwerekun Community High School in Lakowe, improving the learning environment for students and teachers. The initiative showed the real-world impact MTN staff volunteer efforts can deliver.
As the 2025 program rolls out nationwide, more communities are expected to benefit from MTN Nigeria’s digital inclusion and volunteer program.
