Munachii Abi is not one to be boxed in. She’s a rapper, model, actress, DJ, and former beauty queen — and she’s only just scratching the surface of what she can do.

According to BellaNaija, Munachii recently sat down for an edition of Meet the Star, a feature series focused on rising Nollywood talents. In her chat, she opened up about how she’s balancing her many creative passions and what’s next on her journey.

When asked what it’s like to juggle multiple artistic roles, Munachii described the experience as both linear and overwhelming. Each creative avenue demands her full attention, but she welcomes the challenge.

One unexpected skill that she revealed is painting. It’s a quieter, more introspective side of her, tucked in between her time on set and at the DJ booth.

Munachii recently starred in the film Kantagari Goes to Town, alongside Nigerian screen veterans Segun Arinze and Iretiola Doyle. She spoke fondly of the experience, calling them her “childhood heroes.”

“If anyone had told me back then that I would be cracking jokes and sharing moments with Black Arrow (Segun Arinze) and Aunty Ireti, I would have been shocked. But dreams do manifest, don’t they?” she said.

Asked what she might be doing if she weren’t in front of a camera or DJ console, she said you’d likely find her painting, dancing to house music, or encouraging someone else to chase their dreams.

On the industry’s reception to multitalented creatives, Munachii had a clear stance. She believes there’s no option but acceptance for people like her.

“There is not a single bone in my body that is built to suppress my creativity,” she said. “I am here to express, document, freeze time and share beautiful moments with the world. The sun must shine with or without the shade.”

Her dream collaborators include Shonda Rhimes and Wes Anderson. She’s also got a soft spot for sushi, admitting it’s one dish she could eat every day without getting tired of it.

Fans can look forward to seeing her in Our Husband, a lead series airing on Africa Magic Showcase and also available on Showmax. It marks her debut on the platform, and she’s eager for audiences across the continent to tune in.

As for the best advice she’s ever received? “Take it one day at a time.”
