Nigeria Air FG unveils new national carrier, targets $1bn revenue in 5 years

The Nigerian government has launched its national carrier, Nigeria Air, with the aim of generating $1bn in revenue within five years.

The airline was unveiled by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, and the Managing Director of Ethiopian Airlines, along with other industry stakeholders.

The initial plan to commence operations with five aircraft was not realised, with only one aircraft unveiled.

However, Sirika said the fleet would increase to 35 aircraft within five years.

The airline is a private sector-led venture with the government holding a five per cent stake.
