Assistant Inspector General of Police, Lawan Jimeta has passed away after a brief illness at the Benin Teaching Hospital in Edo State.
Ahmed Wakil, Bauchi police spokesperson, confirmed his death in a statement that noted Lawan Tanko Jimeta’s numerous accomplishments in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Before his passing, AIG Jimeta served as Commissioner of Police in Edo and Bauchi states and had held such positions as Area Commander in Suleja and Chief of Training for the Directorate on Peacekeeping at FHQ Abuja.
He earned an English Language degree from The University of Maiduguri and a Master’s Degree from the National Open University (NOUN) in Peace & Conflict Studies.
Born September 9th, 1964, in Jimeta Yola North LGA of Adamawa State; he was enlisted into NPF on March 3rd, 1990.
