Watford FC has officially announced that Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong has been loaned out to Serie A side Salernitana in Italy for the rest of the 2022/23 season, with an option to buy.
As part of the deal, Salernitana will pay Watford a loan fee plus a further fee if they remain in Serie A.
Troost-Ekong has been with Watford since September 2020 and made 68 appearances while wearing the yellow jersey, including 15 this season.
He has also scored twice and even captained the squad five times. One goal of particular note was his essential contribution to Watford’s 4-0 win over Luton Town back in October.
