NYPD Officers Told to Wear Full Uniform Ahead of Potential Trump Indictment
All NYPD officers were ordered to wear their full uniform on Tuesday in anticipation of a possible indictment of Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury.
The criminal court building in Lower Manhattan was given increased security, with barricades unloaded around it Monday morning.
It is speculated that Mr Trump may be arrested on Tuesday, an allegation he has called out as an “illegal leak.”
The NYPD, Secret Service, FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office are all said to be taking part in the preparations leading up to the potential indictment.
Senior officials and public safety aides have held a virtual meeting on Sunday to assess security plans near the Criminal Court at 100 Centre Street.
An indictment may not come as early as Tuesday, but arrangements in case Mr Trump appears in person have been under way since last week.
Steven Cheung, campaign spokesperson for Mr Trump, has criticised Alvin Bragg’s office over what they believe is a “witch hunt” against the 45th president.
