Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the renowned designer of the Nigerian flag, has passed away at the age of 84.

His son, Akinkunmi Akinwumi Samuel, confirmed the news of his father’s demise on Facebook, paying tribute to his remarkable life and legacy. Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R), a great man, will be deeply missed.

The Nigerian Flag, with its vibrant green and white colors, represents the unity and strength of our great nation. Designed by Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi in 1959, it has become a powerful symbol of our independence and resilience.

Pa Akinkunmi’s vision for the flag was to create something that would inspire hope and patriotism in the hearts of Nigerians. He believed that the green color symbolized Nigeria’s agricultural wealth, while the white color represented peace.

Today, every time we see our flag waving proudly in the wind, we are reminded of the sacrifices made by our founding fathers, like Pa Akinkunmi, who fought for our freedom.
