Following the removal of fuel subsidies, drivers with app-based transport companies such as Uber, Bolt, Lagride, and Indriver are calling for a 200% fare increase and a minimum trip fare of N2,000.
The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transport Workers of Nigeria (AUATWON) made the demand, expressing concerns over the impact of the new fuel price on its members.
The union’s national president, Adedamola Adeniran, urged the companies to review their prices and set a minimum trip fare to alleviate the hardship on drivers’ earnings and patronage.
He also called for the companies to reduce their commission by 50% and subsidize trip fares for riders by at least 5%.
The union has appealed to the companies to respond and act on their demands.
