Patrick Vieira has been sacked as manager of Crystal Palace, with the club without a win since New Year’s Eve of last year.
The decision to sack the Frenchman follows a terrible run of form for the Premier League side this 2023, with five points separating them from Southampton in bottom spot.
Struggling Palace have won just one of their last 11 league games, and were knocked out of the FA Cup third round recently.
Chairman Steve Parish released a statement saying: “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made…Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status”.
He also praised Vieira’s work since his arrival at Palace, who led them to both an impressive 12th-placed finish and FA Cup semi-final during his tenure.
A search for his replacement is underway ahead of Sunday’s clash against leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
