Paul Scholes believes Liverpool manager Arne Slot may not be a fan of Trent Alexander-Arnold, based on the Dutchman’s reactions during Liverpool’s recent 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Despite Slot’s successful start at Liverpool, winning his first three games, his decision to substitute Alexander-Arnold during a 2-0 win over Brentford raised eyebrows, as the defender appeared frustrated.

On an episode of The Overlap, Scholes voiced his concerns to fellow pundit Jamie Carragher, asking, “Do you think Slot likes him?”

He noted that during the Manchester United game, Slot frequently shook his head and looked away whenever Alexander-Arnold misplaced passes or attempted long balls, suggesting possible dissatisfaction.

In the aftermath of the Brentford game, Slot explained that his decision to take Alexander-Arnold off was related to managing the player’s fitness.

He mentioned that Alexander-Arnold had returned from international duty, where his playing time fluctuated, and that Liverpool needed to ensure his fitness for the entire season.
