The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives has expressed its determination to regain control of the Aso Rock Villa in 2027. Hon. Chinda Kingsley, the leader of the minority caucus in the house, made this statement during a press briefing after the third meeting of PDP lawmakers in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Hon. Chinda, the villa is considered to be the birthright of the PDP, and they are committed to resuming the session with a strong, purpose-driven opposition that gives the people a voice in parliament.
During the meeting, the lawmakers also issued a three-month ultimatum to the federal government to address the security situation in the country.
They called on the government to take immediate steps to normalize the security situation, as Nigeria is currently facing significant challenges in this regard.
Furthermore, the caucus agreed to mobilize and sensitize Nigerians to take charge of their security if the situation does not improve within the given timeframe.
They emphasized the need for all party caucuses, the board of trustees, national executive committee, and the national working committee of the PDP to engage in reconciliatory measures.
Hon. Chinda urged PDP leaders to demonstrate unconditional loyalty to the party and work towards resolving pending litigations that have hindered the party’s progress, including the appointment of a substantive national chairman.
He emphasized the importance of placing the PDP back in its position as the largest party in Africa.
