PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has urged the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the January 31st deadline for a naira swap scheme.
Atiku noted that the redesign of naira notes has sparked much criticism at home and abroad, and pointed out how farmers in remote areas struggle when it comes to exchanging their cash with banks.
The former Vice President emphasised that the ultimatum poses a great difficulty to citizens, calling on authorities to ease their burden while promoting mobile banking policies.
He suggested that an extension of the deadline would reduce any negative financial outcomes for those affected by the policy.
