Manchester United have tabled a new offer to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, having already agreed personal terms with the Everton star.
According to reports, the Toffees’ central defender has agreed to terms which would see him earn £8.32 million a year, and £160,000 a week.
United offered £35 million initially for Branthwaite last month, which Everton rejected.
Now, as per reports, Man Utd have returned with an improved offer for the 22-year-old worth £50 million.
Despite the increased bid, Everton are expected to reject this offer as well. They insist on a fee in the range of £65 million to £70 million for their prized asset.
United want to bolster their defense following a disappointing season where they conceded 58 goals in the Premier League.
In contrast, Everton, despite finishing seven places below United and having a relatively weaker squad, conceded 51 goals with Branthwaite delivering solid performances throughout the season.
In addition to their pursuit of Branthwaite, the Red Devils are reportedly close to securing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.
