Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election, has filed a petition challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer.

The petition, jointly filed by Obi and his party, alleges that the election was not conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended.

They are asking the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to determine that Tinubu was not entitled to be declared the winner of the election, and to order the cancellation of the election.

Obi also wants the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election and disqualify Tinubu and his running mate, Shettima Kashim, from the new election.

The pre-hearing of the petition has been adjourned to May 10, 2023.
