The competition for key positions in the Senate has intensified as the resumption approaches.

There is a growing plot against the emergence of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, as Minority Leader.

The political rivalry between Tambuwal and Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has resurfaced in the Senate and is posing a threat to Tambuwal’s bid for the position.

A group of PDP senators, including Tambuwal, Abdul Ningi, and Henry Seriake Dickson, have opposed Wike and Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s alleged attempt to disrupt the election.

They are determined to stop Wike and Akpabio from dominating the Senate minority caucus.

Additionally, some senators from opposition parties, who are loyal to Wike, are taking measures to prevent Tambuwal from becoming the next Minority Leader.

They argue that Tambuwal has a history of sacrificing his political allies for his benefit and cannot provide the necessary leadership in the role.

“Tambuwal has a record of throwing his political allies under the bus at critical moments to promote his interest and cannot provide needed leadership as Minority Leader.”

These senators have resolved to vote for another ranking senator instead of Tambuwal.
