Former vice chairman (North-West) of All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, has accused President Bola Tinubu of running the affairs of the country like a military dictator.

Lukman, a prominent APC chieftain, also criticized Tinubu for shutting down the structures of the party and acting as if he has all the solutions to the problems facing Nigerians. Lukman expressed concern that the current security and socio-economic challenges in the country could pose a threat to Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term if not addressed.

He argued that the level of poverty, insecurity, hunger, and high cost of goods and services in Nigeria showed that the APC and its leaders had failed to fulfill their promises to the Nigerian people.

According to Lukman, both former President Muhammadu Buhari and incumbent President Tinubu have disregarded the essence of the merger that formed the APC in 2013, and have inflicted hardship on Nigerians.

He questioned Tinubu’s leadership style, accusing him of managing the affairs of government like a military dictator and talking down to citizens as if he possesses absolute knowledge of what will make them happy.

Lukman also raised concerns about Tinubu’s alliances with certain political mercenaries who were previously opposed to his election.

He questioned the likelihood of their success in securing a second term for Tinubu, emphasizing that even military governments with their recruited mercenaries have failed to guarantee their survival.

Furthermore, Lukman highlighted the disillusionment among many APC members who believe that both Buhari and Tinubu only wanted to win elections and become presidents, with little regard for good governance or policy orientation.

He suggested that this perception has led to a belief that the merger exercise that formed the APC was a deception.
