Pretty Okafor, President of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), has been cleared of financial misconduct following a thorough police investigation that found no evidence against him.
According to Naija News, Okafor was suspended by the PMAN National Working Committee (NWC) in 2024 after facing allegations of financial misconduct. Sunny Neji was appointed as acting president during that period.
The PMAN National Executive Committee (NEC) later suspended Neji, along with Nigerian rapper Ruggedman, Zaaki Azzay, and JFO Baba Ojonorgua, for allegedly working against the association’s leadership.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Okafor said, “There was never any financial misconduct. There was never any forgery. There was no breach of the PMAN Constitution on my part. Now, the truth has finally prevailed.”
Okafor explained that the accusations came from internal power struggles by some NWC members who wanted to remove him while he was on official assignment in Spain. He also said the suspended members acted outside the association’s constitutional rules and eventually gave up their positions voluntarily.
He further alleged that during the dispute, some individuals, including police officers and court staff, arranged fake legal proceedings using a non-official address.
Okafor also raised concerns about irregularities in the PMAN Monaco project and confirmed plans to launch an Asset Management Company to protect PMAN’s assets and investments.
