The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has arrested several individuals for their involvement in examination malpractice during the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The Head of National Office (HNO) of Council, Mr Patrick Areghan, confirmed the arrests and stated that the culprits had been handed over to the police for prosecution.
Areghan warned that examination malpractice was eroding morals and values in society and that the Council would do everything possible to ensure that those involved were prosecuted.
He also stated that WAEC had deployed technology to catch cheats and had made several arrests in different parts of the country.
Areghan urged candidates not to compromise their future by engaging in illegal means to pass the examination.
