Galtier allegedly sent an email during his time as head coach of OGC Nice, making derogatory remarks about his team members.
These comments have landed him and his son in police custody for questioning.
If found guilty in the upcoming trial, Galtier could not only face a three-year prison term but also a fine of €45,000.
