On Wednesday, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford achieved a feat that has not been accomplished since way back in April of 2012 when Wayne Rooney scored against Everton.
The 25-year-old forward netted his sixth consecutive goal at Old Trafford in United’s 2-2 draw with Leeds, equalling the 11-year record kept by Rooney.
This goal also marked Rashford’s 20th of the season, which included an impressive run of scoring in eight out of nine matches since returning to Premier League action in December.
Manager Erik ten Hag praised Jadon Sancho for his role in helping United get the equalising goal and applauded him for regaining his mental and physical fitness after being out since October.
Ten Hag said that Sancho’s performance will motivate him, even more, to do better and expressed his delight at seeing Sancho playing confidently with so much belief.
These are exciting times for Man Utd with potential £4.5bn buyout talks from Qatari investors taking place while they look to sell the Glazer family’s ownership.
