Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz has made the decision to switch his international allegiance after being overlooked by the Spanish national team.

With the Euro 2024 tournament just three months away, national team managers are finalizing their squads. Unfortunately for Brahim Diaz, he will not be part of the Spanish squad.

Brahim Diaz, who made his senior debut for Spain in 2021 and scored in a friendly match against Lithuania, has not received any call-ups since then.

Despite representing Spain at youth level and being born to Spanish parents in Malaga, the 24-year-old grew tired of waiting for an opportunity under Spain boss Luis de la Fuente.

According to reports from Marca’s Juan Castro, Diaz has decided to represent Morocco instead.

The Moroccan Football Federation is said to be preparing a significant celebration to announce the news.

Diaz qualifies to play for the Atlas Lions through his paternal grandfather, who was born in Morocco.

The president of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, reportedly put in considerable effort to convince Diaz to switch allegiance.

Brahim felt that Spain and De la Fuente did not show the same level of commitment and interest, which played a role in his decision.

By joining Morocco, Diaz will now represent the highest ranked African team in the world alongside Paris Saint-Germain superstar Achraf Hakimi.

He may make his debut later this month in a friendly match against Angola on March 22.

Despite limited playing time at Real Madrid, Diaz has shown he’s talented, particularly during his loan spell at AC Milan last season.

It will be interesting to see how Diaz’s international career unfolds as he embarks on this new chapter with Morocco.
