Spurs' Deal for Pedro Porro Has Disintegrated Over Personal Terms

Pedro Porro’s proposed move from Sporting Lisbon to Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly collapsed after the Portuguese side changed their minds on the agreement at the last minute.

Initially, Spurs had verbally agreed a deal to trigger Porro’s €45m (£39.5m) release clause and sign him on a five-and-a-half year contract, with the 23-year-old expected to fly to London for his medical on Monday.

However, The Athletic claims that Sporting reneged on the terms of the deal and instead looked for full payment of Porro’s release clause, leaving him “distraught”.

Tottenham could now end the January transfer window without making any permanent signings – having only brought in Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal – while Ruben Amorim’s side is understood to have lined up a move for Barcelona’s Hector Bellerin as a potential replacement for Porro.

Djed Spence, who Tottenham signed from Middlesbrough last season but has featured sparsely this campaign, would have likely been sent out on loan as part of a deal bringing in Porro this month, but he is now set to stay put as things stand.
