Ride-Hailing Companies Uber and Bolt Call Off Strike, Opt for Dialogue

Uber and Bolt, two ride-hailing companies in Nigeria, have decided to call off their planned strike and instead opt for dialogue with the government.

The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transport Workers of Nigeria (AUATWON) had planned an indefinite strike, but has now suspended it to allow for a meeting with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the app-based companies, and the union.

The meeting is scheduled for June 26 and was rescheduled from June 20.

The union expressed concern over the challenges facing workers since the fuel pump price increased by 300%, negatively impacting service delivery and creating a burden on earnings and living standards.
