Chelsea winger Angelo Gabriel took to Instagram to praise his teammate Enzo Fernandez, calling him a “phenomenon.”
Both players featured in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Brighton and Hove Albion, with Fernandez coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute.
Gabriel replaced Raheem Sterling in the same minute. Chelsea won the match 4-3, with goals from Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher, and Nicolas Jackson.
Despite Fernandez not having the best season so far, there is belief that under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, he could flourish and make a big impact next season.
Chelsea paid £106.8 million in transfer fees for Fernandez, who was one of the standout players for Argentina in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
With a good pre-season, Fernandez could regain the form he showed at Benfica and for Argentina.
