Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has finally gotten his wish as Roberto Firmino is set to sign a new contract with the Premier League club.
The Brazilian striker had been in negotiations with the Merseyside club over an extension past his current deal’s end date of this season, and it appears that he has come to an agreement.
Sky Germany reports that he will extend his contract until 2025, delighting Klopp who had spoken about wanting him to remain with the club.
Prior to an injury taking him out heading into the World Cup, Firmino had netted nine goals throughout all competitions in the first half of the season.
Klopp spoke highly of him saying: “Bobby knows the situation here and what we think of him, that’s clear.” Liverpool have completed their only January signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven for £35m amid calls from fans for mid-field reinforcements.
