Zach Giggs, the son of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, has been pursuing his dream of becoming a professional footballer by training with the Red Devils’ academy since 2019.
However, his hopes of securing a professional contract have been dampened after a trial with Sheffield United.
The 16-year-old Wales U17 international has been part of the under-18 side at Carrington for the past two seasons, but it appears that he may have to leave the club soon.
Although he is currently on trial with Championship side Sheffield United, the club is under an EFL-imposed transfer embargo, which means that they cannot sign any players, including academy players like Giggs.
While scholarship terms could make a deal possible, any compensation heading to Old Trafford would complicate things further.
Zach’s father Ryan, who played his entire career at Old Trafford, has been regularly visiting Carrington to watch his son in action.
However, it remains to be seen whether Zach will be able to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a professional footballer.
