Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, has been banned from attending the national team’s matches for six months by FIFA due to violations of the organization’s disciplinary regulations.
Eto’o, a former Barcelona striker and Fecafoot president since 2021, will be barred from attending men’s and women’s matches across all age groups during this period.
The ban stems from incidents related to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup round-of-16 match between Brazil and Cameroon, which took place in Bogota, Colombia, on September 11, 2024.
Although FIFA’s disciplinary committee did not disclose specific details, they stated that Eto’o was found guilty of “offensive behavior and violations of the principles of fair play,” as well as “misconduct” involving officials.
This suspension comes just months after Eto’o was fined by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following an investigation into breaches of its ethical and integrity standards.
FIFA’s decision to impose the six-month ban adds to Eto’o’s growing list of disciplinary actions during his tenure as Fecafoot chief.
