On Monday, members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who gathered in their numbers protested in Lagos against alleged intimidation from the traditional ruler of Imota.
The protesters were accusing him of cursing those who would want to vote for a party other than the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The crowd carried placards with messages such as “Election is not war” or “Stop cursing residents voting for other parties”.
Their demonstrations included approaching the palace of the official and voicing out their grievances.
Mr. Adewale Oyebo, PDP candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, expressed his support to the community and urged voters to participate peacefully according to Nigerian legislation.
The traditional leader while responding expressed that they only performed rituals to ensure peace during elections time and no names nor parties were mentioned among them.
He further questioned why only PDP were complaining while there are more than 26 political parties present in Nigeria at this time.
