After failing to secure a transfer in the summer, it now looks like Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United is at an end after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
The 37-year-old and his agent have already held talks with Bayern Munich representatives as they look to find a route out of Old Trafford.
According to Sportsmail, Bayern Munich is a possible destination for the veteran striker after Ronaldo and agent Jorge Mendes met with officials from the Bavarian club in England last week.
Mendes was hawking Ronaldo about Europe over the summer, offering him to the likes of Sporting, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Bayern, with nothing coming of his efforts.
However, it appears that Bayern are reconsidering their stance, after CEO Oliver Kahn said the club ‘quickly dismissed’ the idea of signing the Portuguese superstar in the summer.
‘We briefly discussed Ronaldo at Bayern and Dortmund probably did too,’ Kahn told German publication Bild last month. ‘We also see the big picture of the Bundesliga.
‘Of course, superstars like Ronaldo are an important factor in attracting attention to the league. He is one of the greatest of the last decade. But we quickly dismissed that.’
The Sportsmail report suggests Bayern have concerns over Sadio Mane’s fitness and the future of Eric Choupo-Moting, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
