Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, made history at the 67th Grammy Awards by winning the Best African Music Performance award for her hit song “Love Me Jeje.”
At 29, she now has more Grammy wins than any other Nigerian artist. The ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, where Tems triumphed over strong competition.
In her acceptance speech, Tems expressed her gratitude, saying, “Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me this team,” and dedicated the award to her mother.
Tems’ Grammy victory comes just a year after she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance award in 2023 for her collaboration on “Wait For U” with Future and Drake. Her continued success highlights her undeniable talent and global impact.
