While he has since been replaced at Chelsea by ex-Brighton boss Graham Potter, Thomas Tuchel’s stock remains high and he has reportedly been faced with multiple job offers.
According to the Telegraph, two of those offers came from unnamed Premier League clubs as well as one from La Liga.
This report comes at the same time that the German’s name is one being linked with the England managerial role once Gareth Southgate steps down.
The Three Lions approach the upcoming Qatar World Cup in some of the worst forms in recent memory, which has in turn sparked discussion over Southgate’s future, with many of the mindset that he will walk away from his post regardless of how England fare at the tournament.
If that is the case, Tuchel is reportedly interested in exploring the idea of succeeding Southgate as Three Lions boss.
While it remains unclear whether the FA would choose a first foreign manager since Fabio Capello, it is obvious Tuchel has an affection for England and would be more than qualified for the job.
His daughters have attended school in Surrey while Tuchel himself has been living close by to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
There were some recent claims that the 49-year-old could be forced to leave the country 90 days after his sacking as Blues manager due to post-Brexit visa issues.
That issue has not yet been resolved, but should he be awarded the England job or any other coaching role on these shores Tuchel would be granted a new Governing Body Endorsement visa which would prolong his stay for the foreseeable future.
The fact that Tuchel has already rejected advances from two Premier League clubs and one Spanish outfit is clearly a sign that he is more than willing to wait for what he regards as the right role before taking the step back into elite management.
His apparent willingness to wait could mean that the England role is the one Tuchel has his sights set firmly on.
Southgate, meanwhile, has conceded that there is obvious pressure on him to deliver results and should he fail he understands he could lose his job and be replaced.
