Arsenal great Thierry Henry has criticised some Liverpool players, proclaiming that they are “finished” after a woeful 5-3 defeat to Real Madrid in midweek.
Henry believes that Jurgen Klopp must now seek to get rid of players who have clearly been unable to reach the same level as when Liverpool ran riot over the Spanish giants in the Champions League final last year.
The ex-Gunners frontman highlighted the fact Klopp’s team were two goals up against a star-studded Madrid side which was able to bail out goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after his error but the Reds’ defence collapsed once their opponents drew level.
Moreover, Henry cited how veteran midfielder Luka Modric was still able to show his quality even at 36 years old while shredding through Liverpool’s midfield with ease.
The Frenchman declared it is time for Klopp and Co. to perform major surgery on the squad if they are to remain competitive and he stressed that everyone must keep their chin up until the end of the season
