Three people have been arrested and a fourth is wanted following a knife attack on Mounir Nasraoui, the father of young Spanish football player Lamine Yamal.
The incident took place yesterday evening in a car park in the Catalonian town of Mataró, approximately 30km from Barcelona.
The Rocafonda neighborhood, where Yamal grew up, became the backdrop for this shocking event.
According to a spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan regional police, Nasraoui suffered multiple stab wounds and is currently receiving treatment at Can Ruti hospital, He is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The police spokesman noted that the attack was a result of an argument in the street; some men had approached Nasraoui while he was walking his dog and subsequently returned to assault him.
The three arrested individuals are currently being questioned at Mataró police station. A fourth individual is actively being sought by the authorities.
The Catalan police emphasized the importance of interviewing the victim and potential witnesses to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Yamal made headlines when he debuted for Barcelona at the age of 15 in April 2023.
