Manchester United has revealed the true cost of sacking manager Erik ten Hag and replacing him with Ruben Amorim, totaling nearly £22 million.
Ten Hag was dismissed in late October, just three months after receiving a new contract.
His tenure at United had been under scrutiny due to poor results, including overseeing the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
The decision to extend Ten Hag’s contract after winning the FA Cup ultimately increased the payout owed to him when results did not improve.
The financial report disclosed that sacking Ten Hag and his coaching staff cost United £10.4 million.
Hiring Amorim and his team added another £11 million to the total, bringing the total cost of managerial changes to £21.4 million.
In response to these costs, United has raised ticket prices for members to £66 per game and removed concession prices for children and seniors for the rest of the season.
Previously, tickets for kids were priced at £25.
This decision has sparked outrage, with Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) calling the price hike “offensive” and organizing a protest for the upcoming weekend.
