There is reportedly tension between Bola Tinubu and Ahmad Lawan over the Senate Presidency ambition of Godswill Akpabio.

Tinubu, who recently met with party leaders at his residence in Abuja, endorsed Akpabio as the next Senate President, while Lawan reportedly tried to stop Akpabio’s ambition.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the national chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the president of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan. Despite Lawan’s opposition, Tinubu insisted on supporting Akpabio for the position.

The positions of Senate president, deputy Senate president, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker of the House were given to Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senator Barau Jubrin, Tajudeen Abbas, and Benjamin Kalu, respectively.

The exclusion of the North Central from power-sharing reportedly generated serious ripples at the meeting, but everyone ultimately bowed to the superior position of the president-elect.
